About Us

Trovador

Founded in 2018, Trovador is a studio that offers sound design and music production services for audiovisual content and videogames, in addition to music production services aimed at independent musicians that want to find their own musical identity.

Currently, the Trovador team is composed of its founders, Ignacio and Juan Carlos. Together, they add up years of experience in the software development industry, video game design and audiovisual production.

Juan Carlos

A graduate from both Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay’s technical careers focused in Social Communication and Audiovisuals, Juan Carlos uses his sound related knowledge and skills to complement short film and video game narrative, always aiming for deep immersion of the player or spectator. Even though he started working at Trovador purely as a sound designer, his passion for cinema and storytelling compelled him to become involved in feature and short film shooting. In addition, he participated in many projects related to the world of music and video games as a writer and translator, he was one of the guitar players of the classic video game cover band, Game Ova, from 2010 to 2019 and gave small lectures about narrative sound design for students and independent developers. He enjoys playing modern RPGs such as The Witcher, but usually goes back to his first great love, Baldur’s Gate.
It is very common to find him at Global Game Jams or independent jams, making music, designing sounds or doing game design.

Ignacio

Ignacio is a software engineer with 10+ years xp who worked at one of the leading video game companies at a regional level. At Trovador he works as a composer, producer, sound designer, mixing and mastering engineer. With a combination of technical knowledge and artistic sensibility he is able to immerse the player into a fantasy world. His interest in music began at the early age of 6 years old, when he started his keyboard studies, putting special interest in combining different sounds and exploring its possibilities. His passion for videogames also started early, finding himself caught in the menu listening to the main themes once and again. He played the keyboards in several bands, one of them, Game Ova, was a video game music cover band. Nowadays he is a multi-instrumentalist, synthesizer lover, experienced in creating realistic orchestral mockups using MIDI libraries. He is always experimenting with new music and sources of sound, collaborating with contemporary musicians. He is an active member of Jam2Jam, a collective that hosts Global Game Jam sites in Uruguay.
